Please be assured that the Rocketry Challenge will be going ahead and the date and venue of the UK Finals will be decided by mid-February.
All teams are currently insured with the British Model Flying Association who will continue to provide insurance for the Challenge.
We remind all teams that despite UKRA's withdrawal from the Rocketry Challenge, all rocket flights must still adhere to the UKRA Safety Code. Safety is our paramount concern and any team found not to follow the UKRA Safety Code will be disqualified.
Teams have another few weeks to register their interest. You can register by going to the Forms and Docs section to the left and filling in the Application Forms. You now have until the 28th February 2010 to send your forms to the UKAYRoC Helpdesk.
For 2010, UKAYRoC teams have to design, construct and successfully launch a rocket, carrying one raw medium size hen's egg to an altitude of 825 feet with a flight time between 40-45 seconds, then return the egg and altimeter payload section safely and undamaged to earth using streamer recovery only.
Registration for this year's UKAYROC opened on Monday 7th September.
The top 20 teams will be invited to compete in our finals next June.
The 2009 UKAYRoC winners, the five-member team from Royal Liberty School, went to Washington DC in May 2009 for the International Fly-off. They succesfully scored 39.54 to retain the 2009 Transatlantic Trophy for the UK against Madison West High School, the 2009 Team America Rocketry Challenge winners, who logged a score of 50.68.
The UK team then attended the Paris Air Show in June 2009 courtesy of Raytheon.
